In the treasure city of Debrecen, members of regional photography clubs regularly gather at the Partium House for professional discussions. Another such meeting took place on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 4 PM. The event was well-attended by members of the “Debrecen” Photography Club, the Szeged-based Carpathian Basin Hungarian Photography Society (KMFT), and the “Euro Foto Art” International Association from Oradea.
The central focus of the meeting was the introduction of KMFT, established two years ago. István Tóth AFIAP, ESFIAP, a photographic artist and founding vice-president of KMFT, delivered a slideshow presentation outlining the society’s origins. According to him, during the pandemic, around 50 out of approximately 100 graduates from online technical and photographic art courses organized by the Carpathian Basin Institute and the “Euro Foto Art” International Association joined the new society. The members, originating from inner Hungary, Southern Hungary, Transylvania, Upper Hungary, Carpathian Ukraine, and Partium, have since held regular online meetings.
Following its establishment, the first free creative camp was organized by László Jusztin from July 1–3, 2022, attended by 20 creators from different parts of the Carpathian Basin. The works produced during the camp were showcased in an exhibition titled My Settlement, accompanied by a colorful album later presented to members of the Japan Danube Photo Club in Yokohama and Tokyo.
The successes of Partium photographers also include the Bečej Impressions exhibition at the Princely Palace in Oradea and the Seasons in the Carpathian Basin exhibition, initially displayed in Oradea and later at the Partium House in Debrecen. István Tóth spoke highly of KMFT members’ contributions, emphasizing their outstanding achievements in numerous international competitions.
A highlight of 2023 was the creative camp held at the Nagy-Magyarország Park in Királyszállás, where 18 creators participated. During the camp, KMFT’s annual traveling exhibition was inaugurated, first showcased on October 11 in Debrecen and later on November 8 in Szeged.
The meeting concluded with the screening of a documentary report by László Jusztin, a filmmaker from Bečej, about the 2024 creative camp.
