On Friday, October 11, 2024, at 5:00 PM local time, the annual exhibition of the Carpathian Basin Hungarian Photographic Art Society (KMFT) was inaugurated at the “Partium” House in Debrecen. The event was organized in partnership with the “Euro Foto Art” International Association under the auspices of the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP), recognized by UNESCO.
The exhibition was first opened on August 29, 2024, in Oradea at the FIAP Exhibition Center located in the princely palace of the medieval fortress, as part of the Hungarian Photography Day celebrations. Subsequently, on September 20, 2024, the exhibition, featuring 98 accepted and awarded photos, was showcased at KMFT’s annual member competition. After its debut in Oradea, the exhibition transformed into a traveling showcase, with a condensed version of 70 photos. This version was presented at KMFT’s creative camp and inaugurated in the event hall of the “Hungaria” Café in Királyszállás.
The event attracted a large audience, including KMFT members from Budapest, Debrecen, Sighetu Marmației, Oradea, Salonta, Bihar, and Bečej (Serbia). The gathering was opened with welcoming remarks by István Stanik, media expert, professional director of the Hungarian Houses Network, director of the Partium House, and vice-president of KMFT. He praised the initiative to organize the annual exhibition and acknowledged the achievements of the association during its two years of operation. Special thanks were extended to the “Euro Foto Art” International Association (AIEFA) for their exceptional collaboration, which also included the organization of KMFT’s annual exhibition.
Following this, István Tóth AFIAP, ESFIAP, photographic artist, and president of both AIEFA and KMFT, addressed the attendees. He shared insights into the organizational background of the first edition of the annual exhibition, expressing gratitude to the Szeged-based Carpathian Basin Institute for their support, which enabled the exhibition’s travel and presentation in cities such as Szeged, Kisvárda, Miskolc, and Sopron.
The event concluded with remarks from András Máthé, photographic artist and president of the Debrecen Photography Club, who commended the technical excellence and artistic diversity of the exhibited works. The next opening is scheduled for November 8, 2024, in Szeged at the Southern Hungarian House.
As the event drew to a close, a documentary film was presented, created by László Jusztin, a photographic artist and professional filmmaker from Bečej (Serbia). The film depicted the KMFT creative camp held from September 21–23, 2024, in Királyszállás (Hungary).
The musical moments of the opening were provided by viola artist Sándor József Thurzó, representing the Sola Fide Community and Cultural Association (SFKKE), who performed Hungarian compositions.
